Startup Catalyst takes 20 young, tech savvy Australians with the potential to build the next world-changing startup to San Francisco each year. They aim to assist in the cultural transformation of the Australian economy to one that is fast paced, startup aware, and “global first”.
This mission cemented in my mind my need to immerse myself into startup and tech culture and push Australia's advancement forward.
GovHack is a open government data hackathon, bringing together people from all walks of life. As the host of the Gold Coast event, I was responsible for the running and organisation of all aspects of the local competition.
This secured my love of community, events and hackathons, with everyone coming together to build awesome new things and have potential startups launching after just 48 hours.
The NSW RFS is the largest volunteer firefighting organisation in the world. Over a number of years it afforded me key skills in leadership, emergency management and of course structural, bush and vehicle firefighting.
The RFS was a key driver in ensuring my love of leadership, continued learning, training and giving back to the community.
