Day 10, the final day. You may recognise the title of this post as an extract of the song 'Teddy Bear's Picnic.' At first it may sound strange, but the lyrics are tightly fitting.
"If you go out in the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise."
Whilst I would not consider the mission a picnic by any means, I would certainly consider it venturing into the woods of the unknown. And there was definitely a surprise.
Fitting, it would seem, then that we finished our trip with a walk through Muir Woods National Monument. If you recognise some of the photos, that's because they filmed Star Wars: Return of the Jedi there (awesome!).
On our way out, we stopped at the northern vantage point for the Golden Gate Bridge, the first time most of us have had a chance to see it.
The walk was a perfect time to reflect on the 10 days that preceded. A chance to cleanse the mind, body and soul before a 13 hour journey back to Australia. It was also really cold.
I thoroughly enjoyed the walk, even if my feet did get wet, and it was only made better by catching a ferry back to San Francisco from Sausalito. It was perfect timing too, following lunch at the seaside city, the sun was beginning to set as we went past the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and pulled into the Fisherman's Wharf.
After a small amount of shopping and final tourist things, it was a bus trip out to SFO and a wait for the plane.
Given that I'm posting this from Sydney airport, I can report the trip back was really good. I got some good shut eye in and the flight seemed to take no time at all.
Now, I just wait for my final leg back to the Gold Coast.
I want to once again thank my sponsor, Griffith Sciences, without whom I never would have had this epic experience.
I don't think there is any doubt that it has affected each and everyone of us participants in a deep and exciting way.
I will be updating this blog with reflections over the coming days, but until then, checkout the Startup Catalyst blog and all my social channels.
